Hong Kong (VNA) – The Vietnamese General Consulate in Hong Kong, China, recently held a meeting and an art performance in Macau to celebrate the Liberation Day (April 30), the May Day, the Dien Bien Phu Victory Day (May 5), and late President Ho Chi Minh’s birthday (19/5).
Attending the activities were Consul General Tran Thanh Huan and representatives of the Vietnamese community in Macau.
Speaking at the function, Huan highlighted the historical significance of the days and briefed participants on Vietnam’s major achievements in various fields over the recent years.
The diplomat spoke highly of the contributions by the Vietnamese community there to the national construction in the recent past, and called on them to seriously abide by the Party’s and State’s policies, as well as the local laws, thus continue to make contributions to the homeland and building a positive image of the community in the eye of foreign friends and local authorities.
He also handed certificates of merits to many Vietnamese collectives and individuals in Macau in recognition of the outstanding achievements.
Art performance on the function included items praising the love for the homeland and the industrious people. Besides, a football tournament was organised among the community.
Currently, there are nearly 30,000 Vietnamese workers in Macau. The Vietnamese community there is highly rated by local authorities for their working spirit and abidance by local laws.-VNA
