Thua Thien-Hue (VNA) – A delegation of educators from ASEAN of the European Union’s Support to Higher Education in the ASEAN Region (SHARE) programme visited Hue University in the central province of Thua Thien – Hue to conduct institutional assessments on March 1.
The university is Vietnam’s sole representative in the pilot institutional assessments, along with 10 other higher education institutions in eight ASEAN countries.
Assoc. Prof., Dr Huynh Van Chuong, Deputy Director of Hue University, said it has fulfilled 10 criteria of the assessments and focused on student exchange in ASEAN and the EU with the credit exchange system. The exchange between ASEAN nations and between ASEAN – EU helps to bolster internationalisation of higher education, he added.
By participating in the assessments, the university hopes to promote its brand in ASEAN and learn more about regional and international standards in quality assurance.
Ten criteria used in the assessments are formed by the SHARE programme, including primary responsibility for quality of the institution, balance between institutional autonomy and accountability and whether quality assurance is a participatory and cooperative process across all levels, among others.
Launched in May 2015 by the EU and ASEAN, SHARE aims to strengthen regional co-operation and enhance the quality, regional competitiveness and internationalisation of ASEAN higher education institutions and students. SHARE is a flagship project of the ASEAN Education Sector that aims to promote regional harmonisation of higher education.
As many as 30 ASEAN and 10 EU higher institutions participate in SHARE, with four Vietnamese universities of Vietnam National University - Hanoi, Hanoi University of Science and Technology, Ho Chi Minh City Technology and Education and Hue University. -VNA
