Hue university students register for blood donation

Hue University saw over 1,000 students register as blood donors at its first Xuan Hong (Red Spring) festival on January 18, launching its 2014 humanitarian blood donation campaign and the Year of Voluntary Youth.
Hue University saw over 1,000 students register as blood donors at its first Xuan Hong (Red Spring) festival on January 18, launching its 2014 humanitarian blood donation campaign and the Year of Voluntary Youth.

Following the ceremony, 100 voluntary students joined a bicycle parade through major streets of the central city of Hue, calling on the public to respond to the humanitarian effort.

Over the past few years, the university chapter of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union (HCMCYU) has held various humanitarian blood donation campaigns, drawing thousands of HCMCYU members and students.

Clubs named “Red Drop” were started in universities to establish blood banks. Each year, this blood supply saves thousands of lives.

Last year, Thua Thien-Hue province collected over 16,900 units of blood via 93 similar campaigns, said standing Deputy Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Ngo Hoa.

The Hue University’s HCMCYU chapter launched 17 voluntary blood donation campaigns, collecting over 4,100 units of blood with the participation of 2,700 students.-VNA
