Hun Sen’s Cabinet gets parliamentary approval

The day before, Hun Sen was appointed Prime Minister in a royal decree signed by the Cambodian King after the National Assembly opened the first session. In a letter to King Norodom Sihamoni later, Hun Sen expressed his strong commitment to fulfill his duties as a prime minister, thus serving the interest of his country and citizens.

Also in the morning of September 24, the Cambodian NA re-elected Heng Samrin as President of the Cambodian NA in the new tenure. The 79-year-old Heng Samrin served as President of the Cambodian NA in the 4 th tenure and was also Honorary President of the Cambodian People’s Party (CPP).

Nguon Nhel and Khuon Sodary, NA vice presidents of the 4 th tenure were also reelected to hold their old positions.

PM Hun Sen presented to the parliament the new government’s political platform, which outlines an extensive reform plan to enhance its management and enforcement capacity.

Later the same day, Hun Sen and all members in his cabinet are to take the oath of office in front of King Norodom Sihamoni at the Royal Palace.-VNA
