Hung Kings worship important to Vietnam’s spiritual life

The worship of the Hung Kings has become a national symbol gathering Vietnamese communities. It has also been a symbol for community unity in all places in the world where Vietnamese people live.

Chu Hoa is among the five communes selected to organize palanquin procession of this year’s Hung Kings death anniversary.

In preparation for the event, not only elderly people but also the youngsters are mobilized to participate in the activity.

Having been preserved for thousands of years, the palanquin procession has become a custom and cultural identity that is an indispensable part of the as anniversary.

Palanquin procession is among many other practices of the worship of Hung Kings. The worship rituals, which have been developed from the traditional ancestor worship rituals, have been a foundation for unity, love and mutual assistance, and spiritual and cultural features indispensable in modern society.

The worship of Hung Kings was included in the UNESCO list of  intangible cultural heritage in 2012.-VNA
