Embarking from the village communal house, the procession, consisting of nearly 200 men and women, carried six palanquins around the village.
According to tradition, the palanquin procession is held to honor and pay tribute to the merits of the Vietnamese forefathers Hung Kings and the village’s tutelary deity.
Accompanying the procession were kylin-lion dance teams to bring a joyful atmosphere.
The revival of the Hung Lo Village Festival after a 10-year hiatus has contributed to preserving and promoting traditional cultural values, while also introducing the village’s unique culture to tourists.
Since Hung Lo village’s communal house was included in the list of national intangible cultural heritage sites, the local community has made efforts to revive the ancient festival activities.
Maintaining and organizing such festivals not only helps preserve and spread the worship of the Hung Kings in the land of their ancestors, but also promotes the unique cultural heritage of Phu Tho to tourists./.
