Hanoi (VNA) - The National Assembly (NA) Standing Committee on December30, 2021 issued a resolution allowing the implementation of a number ofmechanisms and policies in the healthcare sector serving COVID-19 preventionand control activities, including the management of drug and drug ingredients.

After the document was promulgated, Chairman of theEuropean Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam (EuroCham) Alain Cany, on behalf ofEuropean businesses in the country, sent a letter to NA Chairman VuongDinh Hue, expressing his appreciation for the promulgation of this Resolution, describing it an important step forward for both Vietnamese and European enterprisesin socio-economic recovery and public health protection.

In particular, the EuroCham Chairman emphasised that theextension of the use of the circulation registration license until December 31,2022 together with other regulations on drugs and ingredients will help easedifficulties and burdens caused by the lingering and complicated pandemic.

Previously, on December 15, 2021, the Ambassadors of EUmember countries, the Ambassadors of Switzerland and Japan sent diplomatic notes asking the legislature to consider promulgating the Resolutionwithin December to allow the continuation of the use of the circulationregistration permit to import and circulate drugs in 2022.

The promulgation of this Resolution by the NA StandingCommittee demonstrates its determination in COVID-19 prevention and control,its interest in economic activities, the legislative body’s companionship withand its efforts to solve difficulties and obstacles for businesses in thecontext of the pandemic as well as during economic recovery and development./.

More preferential credit available to businesses

Under SBV requirements, commercial banks are to provide Vietnamese-dong loans to SMEs and growth-driving sectors at rates at least 1 percentage point per year lower than their average rates for loans of the same maturity. They are also required to consider waiving or reducing service fees for eligible customers in line with regulations and their financial capacity.

Vietnam, UK seek new growth drivers in technology, logistics

British Ambassador to Vietnam Iain Frew highlighted the importance of strengthening bilateral cooperation as Vietnam - UK relations have been upgraded to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. Over 60% of long-stalled projects have obstacles resolved

Of the 8,002 long-stalled projects, 4,938 completed the settlement of obstacles in line with conclusions of the Party Central Committee and resolutions of the National Assembly and Government, as well as relevant Government decrees and guiding documents as of July 20, up 564 projects from the previous month.

Vietnam, New Zealand seek new impetus for trade ties

The state visit to New Zealand by General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee and President To Lam is expected to provide fresh impetus for market opening, removal of trade barriers and stronger economic links following the elevation of bilateral relations to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in February 2025.

Ho Chi Minh City to integrate IoT into smart transport infrastructure

To promote IoT application in smart transport, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Chairman has assigned the Department of Construction to lead the deployment of IoT in the construction, management, operation and maintenance of transport infrastructure. The department will also review and propose integrating IoT sensors and smart monitoring devices into transport construction, renovation and upgrading projects across the city.
