An “India-ASEAN Dialogue” was held in New Delhi, India on April 23 by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and the ASEAN-New Delhi Committee (ANDC).
It was a forum for Indian enterprises to seek business opportunities in ASEAN, and at the same time introduced India’s investment environment to the region’s investors, said Sanjay Kirloskar, Chairman of the ASEAN regional committee under CII.
Vietnamese Ambassador to India Nguyen Thanh Tan, who is the rotating president of ANDC, said ASEAN welcomes India’s Look East policy.
India is becoming a powerful country, Tan said, adding that ASEAN supports the emerging role of India in maintaining peace and prosperity in the region.
With a population of around 650 million and total income of 1,700 billion USD, ASEAN is an attractive destination for Indian investors, Tan noted.
At the gathering, representatives of ASEAN countries also introduced their economic situations and prospects as well as investment and business environments to Indian businesses.-VNA
