The India Today quoted a localdefence official as saying that two India’s warships, INS Sahyadri and INSKiltan, have been dispatched by the Indian Navy to Malaysia for the bilateralexercise. The sea phase of the exercise, which is named 'Samudra Laksamana', isat present underway off the Malaysian port of Kota Kinabalu.
According to the official, INSSahyadri and INS Kiltan are under command of Rear Admiral Suraj Berry, FlagOfficer Commanding-in-Chief, Eastern Naval Command, based at Visakhapatnam.
The two ships represent the coming ofage of India's warship-building capabilities, said the official, adding that thewarships are equipped with a versatile array of weapons and sensors and havethe capability to carry multi-role helicopters./.
