Indian warships INS Ranvir and INS Shakti are visiting Jakarta, Indonesia from June 1-4 to improve the capacity of the two countries’ naval forces in coordination activities.
During their stay, the two ships have engaged in a number of programmes, including professional interactions between the two navies in maritime and search and rescue sectors.
The two naval forces have jointly conducted patrols and plan to hold annual bilateral training sessions.
India ’s Southern Naval Commander Vice Admiral Satish Soni highlighted the enormous cooperation potential between the two navies, while Indian Ambassador to Indonesia and Timor Leste Gurjit Singh said the two naval forces committed to defend marine routes and inspect violations to ensure free trade for all countries in the region.
The warships also visited Singapore and are expected to continue on to Australia, Malaysia, Thailand, and Cambodia.-VNA
