New Delhi (VNA) – India’s Eastern Fleet ships INS Shakti and INS Kamorta anchored at Indonesia’s Makassar port on June 23 for a three-day visit that aims to strengthen cooperation between the naval forces of the two countries.
Rear Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi, NM, Flag Officer Commanding Eastern Fleet, who is leading the fleet ships, said that the visit was part of India’s strategy for operational reach and pursuit of India’s ‘Act East’ policy.
The ships are on the last leg of their two month operational deployment to Southeast Asia and Western Pacific Ocean.
Earlier, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid a visit to Indonesia, during which the two countries elevated their ties to the level of comprehensive strategic partnership.-VNA
