Hanoi (VNA) - Anti-terror forces of Indonesian national police have arrested two alleged militants in West Java province in a crackdown as the Asian Games is days to go in the country.

Police chief of the province Agung Budi Maryoto said on August 3 that the arrested ones are members of the Jemaah Anshorut Daulah (JAD), a terrorist cell linked with IS group.

They were captured in Bandung, the capital of West Java, on August 1. JAD was banned by an Indonesian court earlier this week for staging scores of suicide attacks and terror strikes across the country since two years ago.

The police have undertaken crackdown on the militants in the country in recent years, but for now, security of the regional sport event has come into focus.

The Asian Games is scheduled to kick off on August 18 and end on September 2 in the capital of Jakarta, Palembang - the capital of South Sumatra, and West Java.

Indonesia has dispatched nearly 200,000 security and army personnel to secure the tournament.-VNA
