Jakarta (VNA) – Indonesian Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno said on April 11 that the culinary industry has huge potential for development and growth during the holy month of Ramadan as Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM) have been lifted.

Culinary industry players can optimise this momentum to increase the sales of their products. Certainly, innovation, the right target market, good promotion and services will further improve the sales, he said.

Ramadan in Indonesia this year began on March 23 and will last till the final week of April.

The minister expects the revenue of the culinary industry to rise by 35-40% during this year’s fasting month.

The potential revenue in the tourism and creative economy sectors, including food, is estimated to reach 100 trillion rupiah (6.7 billion USD) to 150 trillion rupiah (10.01 billion USD), according to Uno.

This year, the food industry is expected to grow by about 6.25% annually./.
