Indonesia, Mongolia step up cooperation

Indonesia and Mongolia held the first meeting of their Joint Commission for Bilateral Cooperation (JCBC) in the Indonesian capital Jakarta on October 21, discussing measures to enhance partnership across various sectors.

The two sides focused on the six priority areas of promoting democracy and human rights; national defence-security; economics and trade; mining and agriculture; social affairs and culture; and regional and global cooperation.

The meeting reached agreement on increasing high-ranking delegation exchanges to intensify collaboration in eliminating terrorism, human trafficking and trans-national organised crimes.

The two countries also pledged to improve economic ties through fostering trade and investment. Two-way trade has witnessed continuing surge in the past three years, from 6.59 million USD in 2012 to 20.78 million USD in 2013 and 23.6 million USD in 2015.

Regarding agricultural ties, they will push forwards cooperation in veterinary and quarantine as well as in agriculture capacity building and promoting market access for agricultural products.

In social and cultural field, they committed to promoting tourism collaboration and people-to-people contact, affirming that young people will be key to elevate relations and mutual understanding between two countries.

The JCBC’s second meeting is scheduled for Ulan Bator, Mongolia in 2017.

TAT showcases Thai culture at Mumbai travel festival

The effort was led by the TAT Mumbai Office and the ASEAN, South Asia, and South Pacific Market Division, under the direction of TAT Governor Thapanee Kiatphaibool, with support from Consul-General Donnawit Poolsawat and senior TAT executives.
