Indonesia monitors students' social media to prevent terrorism

The Indonesian Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education will monitor students' social media to check radicalism on campuses, said Minister Mohammad Nasir.

Jakarta (VNA) – TheIndonesian Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education will monitorstudents' social media to check radicalism on campuses, said Minister MohammadNasir.

The move would not restrictacademic activities or affect students' privacy, said Nasir.

The minister affirmed that itaims at preventing the development of radicalism on campuses. He also called onrectors to closely watch all activities on their campuses.

The move came after the policearrested three alumni of the Aras Mulyadi University in Riau province, whopiloted an attack at the university’s student facility building. The policeseized four hand-made bombs and some materials to make bombs in the building.- VNA
