Jakarta (VNA) – The Indonesian Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education will monitor students' social media to check radicalism on campuses, said Minister Mohammad Nasir.
The move would not restrict academic activities or affect students' privacy, said Nasir.
The minister affirmed that it aims at preventing the development of radicalism on campuses. He also called on rectors to closely watch all activities on their campuses.
The move came after the police arrested three alumni of the Aras Mulyadi University in Riau province, who piloted an attack at the university’s student facility building. The police seized four hand-made bombs and some materials to make bombs in the building.- VNA
