(Photo: REUTERS) Jakarta (VNA) - Indonesia's parliamenton March 21 passed into law an emergency decree ofPresident Joko Widodo in order to reinforce regulations on investment and jobs inthe Southeast Asia’s largest economy.
The new law replaces the2020 law which was praised by foreign investors for streamliningbusiness rules, but also criticised by labour and green groups asbeing too pro-business.
In 2021, the Constitutional Court ruled thepassage of that law was flawed due to inadequate public consultation andordered a renewed debate process in parliament within two years.
The passage of the decree on March 21 meant most ofthe changes brought about by the law would stay, with some smallchanges on labour rules./.
