Hanoi (VNA) – Indonesian Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati on April 17 announced that she has met with Financial Action Task Force (FATF) President Raja Kumar to discuss Indonesia's full membership in the FATF.

The meeting took place on the sideline of the International Monetary Fund (IMF)-World Bank Spring Meetings 2023 in Washington.

The minister elaborated that Indonesia's full membership in the FATF will have a good impact to the country’s economy and affirmed its roles as well as responsibility for regional and global finance.

The minister noted that the good impact derived would be in the form of positive perceptions of the financial system in Indonesia and an improvement in the investment climate in the country.

In 2022, Indonesia underwent a Mutual Evaluation Review (MER) by the FATF to assess its fitness to be a full member of the task force. The membership proposal was submitted by the Ministry of Finance in 2017.

The minister said she highly honored the FATF Secretariat's support for Indonesia officially becoming an FATF member, which is expected in June 2023.

She affirmed that several of FATF's strategic priorities align with Indonesia's development priorities./.
