Jakarta (VNA) - Indonesia’s Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin has announced an additional 21 cases of the COVID-19 Omicron variant, bringing the total to 68 cases.

All of the 21 cases were imported, mostly from Turkey and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), the minister said. The country has detected only one case of Omicron within the community so far.

To prevent the spread of the variant, the Indonesian Government on December 27 decided to increase the number of PCR tests for people entering the country to three.

Currently, Indonesians returning home and tourists must quarantined for 10 days at designated lodging establishments or quarantine facilities./.
