Indonesia to host ASEAN Online Sale Day

Indonesia will host the ASEAN Online Sale Day in Semarang city of Central Java province on August 19, as part of the ongoing 55th ASEAN Economic Ministers (AEM-55) Meeting.

Jakarta (VNA) – Indonesia will host the ASEAN Online Sale Day in Semarang city of Central Java province on August 19, as part of theongoing 55th ASEAN Economic Ministers (AEM-55) Meeting.

Djatmiko Bris Witjaksono, Director General of InternationalTrade Negotiations at the Ministry of Trade, said the eventwill attract the physical attendance of businessmen from the region, whilesales will take place through a portal.

Djatmiko expressed his belief that this year's event willcreate favourable conditions for business entities, especially Indonesian small-and medium-sized enterprises, to market their products to bloc membercountries.

AEM-55 is taking place from August 17-22, with the agenda of19 meetings between ASEAN economic ministers and their counterparts from ASEANdialogue partner countries.

Indonesian Minister of Trade Zulkifli Hasan said AEM-55 has three main goals.The first one is to fulfil the ASEAN Chair’s economic priorities in 2023, suchas the signing of the Protocol for the Second Amendment of theASEAN-Australia-New Zealand Free Trade Agreement. The second goal is to strengthen cooperation between ASEANand its dialogue partners and strategic partners. The third is to fortify cooperation between business entities in the bloc and partner countries./.

Vietnam calls for stronger ASEAN unity, resilience

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Dang Hoang Giang urged ASEAN to make full use of existing mechanisms to enhance dialogue, build trust and prevent risks and conflicts, particularly by strengthening the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in Southeast Asia (TAC), the Southeast Asia Nuclear Weapon-Free Zone Treaty (SEANWFZ), and cooperation based on international law.

Vietnam steps up trade, investment promotion at China-ASEAN Expo

According to the CAEXPO Secretariat, Vietnam will once again lease an entire exhibition area of about 3,000sq.m, featuring 170 booths, making it one of the ASEAN countries with the largest exhibition spaces at this year’s event. Nearly 100 Vietnamese businesses have confirmed their participation, including major brands such as Trung Nguyen Group, TH Group, Saigon Coffee and Biti’s.

Vietnam reaffirms commitment to building resilient, inclusive and integrated ASEAN Labour Market

To this end, Vietnam proposed three strategic priorities for ASEAN cooperation. First, ASEAN should expand and harmonise mutual recognition mechanisms by increasing the scope and number of Mutual Recognition Arrangements (MRAs) in the region; and promote the role of the ASEAN TVET Council (ATC) in connecting national skills certification systems with regional and global standards, based on national occupational skills qualification frameworks and regional references.
