Jakarta (VNA) - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto has announced that minimum wages will increase by an average of 6.5% in 2025 to ensure labourers’ living conditions.
The minimum pay per sector will be later determined by the wage board. The government will also seek other opportunities to improve workers’ welfare, the president said.
According to Prabowo, the increase is slightly higher than the 6% increase proposed by Minister of Manpower Yassierli.
He explained that the final decision was taken after having in-depth discussions, including with leaders of labour unions.
Prabowo emphasised that the increase is aimed at improving workers' purchasing power while still maintaining business competitiveness./.
