Kuala Lumpur (VNA) – Stricter security checks will be applied to Malaysian and Singaporean visitors entering Indonesia in the upcoming time, said Indonesia’s PT Angkarasa Pura II, the state-owned company handling airports.

Managing director Budi Karya Sumadi said the move aims to prevent prohibited items from entering the country, especially drugs, as drug smuggling into Indonesia in recent times has mostly involved citizens of the two target countries.

Meanwhile, Malaysian Foreign Minister Anifah Aman said that Malaysia has not received any official information relating to this issue but the ministry will discuss it with the Indonesian Foreign Ministry to clarify the matter.

Anifah stated that Malaysia and Indonesia share a good relationship in combating transnational crimes, including drug crime.-VNA
