Jakarta (VNA) - Indonesian police have arrested 10 people, including activists, a former minister, public figures and a retired military officer, accused of of treason attempts, a police officer said on December 2.
Those ten people were captured between 3.00 to 6.00 am (local time). They are now being investigated in police's mobile brigade headquarters.
Among the arrested ones were RatnaSarumpaet, Sri BintangPamungkas, retired military general Kivlan Zen, former minister Rizal Ramli, rock star Dhani Ahmad and RachmawatiSoekarnoputri who is the sister of Indonesia's former President Megawati Soekarnoputri.
Police said their arrests do not relate to the gathering of thousands of Muslims to demand the detention against Jakarta Governor BasukiTjahajaPurnama, who has been accused of blaspheming the Koran.
Police have previously warned of possible anti-government movements. The arrested had planned to stage a protest, demanding the parliament hold an extraordinary plenary session to amend the State constitution, according to media reports.-VNA
