Jakarta (VNA) – Indonesia’s pepper exports in the January-August period rose 16.57 percent year on year to 24,460 tonnes, according to the country’s Agriculture Ministry.

Indonesia produced 82,170 tonnes of pepper in 2016, up 0.82 percent from a year earlier, said Chief of the ministry’s Data Center Information System, Suwandi.

Pepper is mostly grown in the five provinces of Bangka Belitung, Lampung, South Sumatra, East Kalimantan and South Sulawesi.
In 2016, Indonesia exported 53,000 tonnes of pepper valued at 431.14 million USD. - VNA
