More than 150 companies from countries and territories are participating in the Cambodia International Machinery Industry Fair and the Cambodia International Textile & Garment Industry Exhibition, that opened in the capital city of Phnom Penh on August 25.
As the first ever industrial and most professional exhibition in Cambodia, the four-day events are jointly organised by the Vietnam National Trade Fair and Advertising company, the York Hong Kong company and the Garment Manufacturers Association of Cambodia.
On display are industrial machinery and equipment for garment and textile, leather and footwear, plastics, rubber, printing, food processing, medical and pharmaceutical products, mechanical engineering and automation from Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, the Republic of Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, Spain, Switzerland, Taiwan, Thailand and the United States.
According to the Cambodian Ministry of Commerce, the country earned 1.86 billion USD in revenues from garment exports in the first six months of this year, representing a year-on-year rise of 32 percent.
The Asian Development Bank forecast that Cambodia’s economic growth is likely to reach 6.7 percent, partly thanks to the recovery of the garment sector./.
