Intensive care centre for COVID-19 patients to be set up at Hanoi Medical University Hospital

Hanoi (VNA) – The Hanoi Medical University Hospital has been asked by the Ministry of Health to set up a 500-bed intensive care centre to improve readiness and capacity to deal with the COVID-19 spike in the country.

The Hanoi Medical University Hospital must promptly draw up a plan for the establishment of the intensive care centre, which should be submitted to the Health Ministry’s Department of Medical Examination and Treatment before 5pm on July 29, according to an official document issued by Prof., Dr. Luong Ngoc Khue, Director of the departmen, on July 24.

The hospital must also make a report on the current condition of its existing intensive care unit (ICU) to the department no later than 8am on July 26, the officially document said.

The new centre will be provided with medical equipment for intensive care, for examples, ICU beds, extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) and high flow nasal cannula (HFNC) machines, and ventilators, by the Health Ministry./.
