Vietnam marked 93rd International Co-operative Alliance (ICA)International Co-operative Day and 21st United Nations InternationalCo-operative Day in Hanoi on July 4.
Themed“Chose Co-operative, Chose Equality”, this Day’s message is to promoteequality among participants in a co-operative.
Vice President of the Vietnam Co-operative Alliance Hoang Van Thinh, theco-operative economic sector has developed significantly in Vietnamthanks to attention by the Party, State, National Assembly andGovernment.
Vietnam is now home to nearly 20,000co-operatives operating in almost all sectors and fields and attractingaround 12 million member households, individuals, small business andproduction establishments.
Co-operatives haveactively participated in poverty reduction and new-style rural areabuilding, and in creating jobs for people, especially those in rural andfar-flung areas.
Philip Hanzen, InternationalLabour Organisation (ILO)’s representative, spoke of cooperation betweenILO and the Vietnam Co-operative Alliance, particularly in implementingthe Vietnam Labour Code and Co-operative Law.
He expressed hope that the two sides will further collaboration for better results in the time ahead.-VNA
