International Woodworking Industry Fair opens in HCM City

The 12th International Woodworking Industry Fair (VietnamWood 2017), the biggest of its kind in Vietnam, kicked off at the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Centre in Ho Chi Minh City on October 18.

HCM City (VNA) – The 12th International Woodworking Industry Fair (VietnamWood 2017), the biggest of itskind in Vietnam, kicked off at the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Centre inHo Chi Minh City on October 18.

This year’s event drew over 320 exhibitors from 25 nationsand territories over the world with a lot of famous names in the woodprocessing industry such as Wilhelm Altendorf GmbH & Co. KG, Biesse, andGoodtek.

Huynh Quang Thanh, President of the Binh Duong WoodProcessing Association, said that with the participation of the world’s leadingbrands, the fair is a venue for enterprises to update latest technologies inorder to have plans to buy machines and equipment serving wood production andprocessing.

Deputy Secretary of the Association of Vietnam Timber andForest Products Ngo Sy Hoai said that the wood export and processing industryis developing remarkably, resulting in higher demand for machines and equipment.

VietnamWood 2017 is a good chance for Vietnamese firms togain access to modern technologies and machines from other countries so as toupgrade their technologies, diversify projects and increase added values forVietnam’s exported wood products.

Several workshops on digital technology application andautomation in the wood processing industry are expected to take place duringthe fair, which will last until October 21.-VNA

According to data released by PwC in late September, total vehicle sales across the six ASEAN-6 markets, namely Vietnam, Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, the Philippines and Singapore, reached about 1.755 million units in the first half of 2026, up 11% year on year. Vietnam recorded the highest sales growth in the group at 31.1%, followed by Indonesia at 15.9% and Thailand at 15.1%.

Khanh Hoa targets green, smart marine economy
