Thai Binh (VNA) – An international seminar on agricultural economic models and rural residential areas in the northern province of Thai Binh to 2030 with a vision to 2045 was held in the province on January 8.

The event, jointly organised by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD), the Thai Binh People’s Committee and the Communist Review, aimed to foster the transition of agriculture and rural economic development in the province in an efficient and sustainable manner.

Addressing the seminar, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Le Minh Hoan underlined that the transition of the agricultural sector needs support from other ministries, sectors and localities, as well as organisations, businesses and individuals at home and abroad.

The MARD will continue working with Thai Binh province in issues introduced at the event, he affirmed.

The province is advised to turn itself into a rice seedling production and supply centre for the northern region in particular and the country at large, and improve quality of the rice sector to be on par with the global level so that Thai Binh will be a high quality rice production and processing hub.

Speakers at the seminar believed that the province can step up digital transformation in agriculture, rural restructuring and organic farming, among others.

As Thai Binh holds huge potential and advantages in the development of agriculture, agro-processing industry and support industries, presentations and ideas at the event help the province devise its agricultural development orientations in the coming time, Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Khac Than said./.
