Binh Duong (VNA) – The international wood material, woodworking machinery fair –BIFA WOOD Vietnam 2023 opened in the southern province ofBinh Duong on August 9 with nearly 800 booths from 100 leadingenterprises in the industry both at home and abroad.

The fair creates an opportunity for businesses in the fieldof wood processing at home and abroad to seek cooperation deals, forming a supplychain of raw materials and accessories, machinery, technology to manufacturers,enterprises from reputable manufacturers from the US, Europe, Japan, China,Taiwan (China), among others.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Deputy Minister ofAgriculture and Rural Development Nguyen Quoc Tri said that in 2022, withcountless efforts of the sector, the association achieved the set targetwith export value reaching over 17 billion USD, an increase of 7.1%. Vietnam is one of the important destinations ofinternational timber product partners as the second country in Asia andfifth in the world in exporting wood and timber products.

In the first seven months of 2023, due to thegloomy economic situation of the world’s economy, consumers in the main exportmarkets of Vietnam's forest products continued to tighten spending fornon-essential products including timber and wood products. As a result, the exportvalue of the sector only reached 7.8 billion USD, down 25.5% from the sameperiod last year.

Tri stressed that the exhibition is anopportunity for businesses to restructure, upgrade production capacity, changemodels, expand markets, and innovate technology in an attempt to turn disadvantagesinto opportunities to overcome hurdles and grow.

Several activities willtake place during the four-day event, including a fact-finding trips, seminars, workshops onmarkets, and trade promotion./.

Bad debt settlement fully benefits from new policy from H2 2026

Resolution 42, enacted in 2017 to pilot bad debt settlement for credit institutions, was introduced in response to a sharp rise in non-performing loans (NPLs).
