Italy’s Communist Refoundation Party delegation on visit

A Politburo member of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) has expressed wishes to further strengthen the friendship and cooperation between Vietnamese and Italian communists and people as well as the strategic partnership between the two countries.

Le Hong Anh, who is also the standing member of the CPV Central Committee’s Secretariat, made the remark in Hanoi on July 9 at a reception for a delegation of the Italian Communist Refoundation Party (PRC), led by Secretary General Paolo Ferrero.

The Politburo member welcomed the visit, saying that it demonstrates the solidarity that Italian communists and people have given to Vietnamese people.

He affirmed the determination of the Party and Vietnamese people to pursue the Doi Moi (renewal) process, the path of socialism and a foreign policy of independence, peace, friendship, cooperation and development; active and proactive international integration, attaching great importance to relations with fraternal parties and traditional friends.

For his part, Secretary General Paolo Ferrero expressed his delight at witnessing the significant efforts made by the Vietnamese Party, State and people in overcoming the consequences of war and building and developing the country in the context of numerous difficulties posed by the global economic downturn as well as by the complicated developments in the regional and international environment in recent years.

He said the important and multifaceted achievements that Vietnamese people have reaped under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam served as a source of encouragement for Italian communists.

The PRC will do its best to foster the fine friendship and cooperation between the two parties, countries and people in the time to come, he said.

Previously, the PRC delegation held talks with a CPV delegation led by Hoang Binh Quan, head of the CPV Central Committee’s Commission for External Relations. The two sides discussed measures to further elevate bilateral links between the two Parties, helping foster friendship and cooperation between the States and people of Vietnam and Italy .

During their stay from July 9-14, the Italian delegation laid a wreath at the Ho Chi Minh President Mausoleum. The delegation is scheduled to hold working sessions with several political and economic bodies of Vietnam and visit a number of economic and cultural establishments in Hanoi and the northern province of Quang Ninh.-VNA
