Hanoi (VNA) - A Japanese contemporary dance troupe called Derashinera will perform in Vietnam for the first time with two performances on January 9 and 10.

The artists will perform Another Story which is based on a technique of mime and directed by Onodera Shuji.

The story depicts a journey of two men and one woman. They visit a bowling alley and a restaurant. Though many things happened during the journey, they have no words, just express their feelings through mime movements.

In the second part of the performance, the troupe will present An Occurrence of a Night. The piece describes a dream in one night. The artists express the wonder between the real and non-existent world.

Founded in 2006, the Derashinera troupe has performed not only in Japan but also abroad. They have just finished a performance in New York in November.

Shuji was trained as a mime at the Mime Institute of Japan. He has directed and choreographed all the performances of the Water and Oil company before he formed Derashinera Company. After forming the Company as a director, he keeps directing and choreographing not only the performance for his company but also for the projects of another theatre's, such as Shizuoka Performing Arts Centre and Kanagawa Arts Theatre.

As a "Japan Cultural Envoy" of the year 2015, he will stay in Vietnam and Thailand for one and a half months to hold workshops.

In Vietnam, a workshop will be held in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City for dancers and dance students.

Two performances will take place at the Tuoi Tre (Youth) Theatre in Hanoi.-VNA
