As of the end of 2013, a total of 18 transport projects funded byJapanese ODA has been completed and put into operation with investmenttotalling 2.34 billion USD.
Meanwhile, Japan is alsofunding 28 under-construction projects valued at 7.42 billion USD, andjoining other partners in three others worth 4 billion USD.
Tofacilitate the absorption of the capital, the ministry has recently putforth a list of 29 transport projects to call for Official DevelopmentAssistance (ODA) with a total investment of 470 billion JPY (4.6 billionUSD) until 2016.
The projects include several large-scale projects in the fields of urban transport, highways, airports and railroads.
Besides calling for more ODA capital for underway projects, theministry also names 15 new plans, including the Trung Luong – My Thuanand Nha Trang-Phan Thiet sections of the North-South Expressway, LongThanh International Airport and a railway route from the innercity of Hanoi to Noi Bai airport.
Priority isgiven to these works as they are expected to bring great spill-overeffects and socio-economic impacts on the country’s development.-VNA
