Terumo, a Japanese group specialised in medical equipment for heart-troubled patients, defines Vietnam as a manufacturing centre of Catheter tubes for other countries, paving the way for widened business cooperation between the two sides.
The move has been realised by the fresh inauguration of the second phase of Terumo’s plant located in Quang Minh industrial zone, Hanoi , the daily Thoi bao Kinh te Vietnam [Vietnam Economic Times] reported on June 20.
The 96 million USD facility is expected to need about 1,000 Vietnamese and Japanese labourers, the newspaper cited the group’s managing director Oguma Akita as saying.
It focuses on manufacturing Catheter tubes for patients with heart diseases along with specialised medical equipment.
In 2012, the group also started construction of a plant based in the southern Dong Nai province of Vietnam, which is expected to be completed in 2015.
In the first five months of this year, among the 40 countries and territories having investment in Vietnam, Japan ranked first with 3.6 billion USD of both newly-registered and additional capital, according to the Ministry of Planning and Investment’s Foreign Investment Agency.-VNA
