Kien Giang province launches world’s longest cable car route

Sun Group inaugurated a sea cable car route in An Thoi town, Phu Quoc island district, Mekong delta Kien Giang province, with the aim of serving tourists on Tet festival which is several days left.

Kien Giang (VNA) - Sun Group, a prominent real estate developer in Vietnam, inaugurateda sea cable car route in An Thoi town, Phu Quoc island district, Mekong delta KienGiang province, with the aim of serving tourists on the traditional Lunar NewYear (Tet) festival which is several days left.

The route has thelength of nearly 8,900 meters, which is said the longest in the world, with theone end being An Thoi town and the other being Hon Thom island, the largest inthe An Thoi island cluster to the south in Phu Quoc island district.

The Hon Thom cablecar system is the first and most important item of the Sun World Hon ThomNature Park in the southern area of Phu Quoc island invested by Sun Group.

The system has 69 cars capable of carrying 30 passengers each and uses thethree-rope cable car technology that is the most modern and safest in theworld.

The system and the SunWorld Hon Thom Nature Park will officially open to tourists on February 14.

In January, nearly 260,000 tourists came to Phu Quoc island, a year-on-yearrise of 51 percent. International tourists increased by 40 percent against thesame period last year. On average the district welcomed about 7,000holidaymakers each day.

Located on theVienam-Cambodia-Thailand marine economic corridor, Phu Quoc is dubbed the“pearl” island.

Phu Quoc features amonsoon tropical climate. It has two seasons, the dry season from November toApril and the rainy season from May to October. The average temperature is 28degrees Celsius, allowing visitors to enjoy the island’s beauty at any time ofthe year.

Phu Quoc NationalPark is one of the most attractive places in the district. It is home to 929plant species, of which 42 are listed in the Vietnamese and world red books ofendangered species. The park is part of the Kien Giang biosphere reserve, whichwas recognised as a World Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO in 2006.

The island was namedas one of the 10 most beautiful Asian islands to visit in summer by tourismsite www.topinspired.com.

Tan Son Nhat airport expected to handle over 1,000 flights per day during Tet peak

Notably, during the two peak days ahead of Tet, the 26th and 27th days of the last lunar month, which fall on February 13 and 14, the airport is projected to operate up to 1,017 flights per day. Post-Tet peaks are expected on the 6th and 7th days of the first lunar month (February 22 and 23), with approximately 1,025 flights handled daily.

According to official statistics, the country welcomed nearly 2.5 million international visitors in January, up 21.4% month-on-month and 18.5% year-on-year.
