Vientiane (VNA) – Laos and Luxembourg have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on technical cooperation in the fields of international law, law enforcement and international human rights law.
The MoU was reached between the Convention and Law Department under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Laos, the Luxembourg Agency for Development Cooperation (LuxDev) and the Institute for Legal Support and Technical Assistance (ILSTA) of Luxembourg.
The deal will serve as an important basis for strengthening technical cooperation between the two sides, helping to raise awareness and capacity for relevant Lao authorities in the field of international law, law enforcement and international human rights law.
At the same time, it is expected to help enhance the efficiency of the implementation of Laos's obligations within the framework of international conventions to which Laos is a member, contributing to the completion of sustainable development goals (SGD), especially the goal No.16 on peace, justice and strong institutions, through organising seminars and training activities on related topics regarding the realisation of conventions in the field of transnational crime, international law cooperation, international human rights law and international judicial organisations.
The MoU is part of Luxembourg’s aid programme for Laos in the fields of good governance and the rule of law./.
Laos, Singapore sign deals on education, carbon credit
