The Lao Defence Ministry on April 19 presented over 1,000 sq.m of land in the capital city of Vientiane to the General Association of Overseas Vietnamese (GAOV) to build its headquarters.
Speaking at the granting ceremony, Lieut. Gen. Souphet Phayvisith, Head of the General Department of Logistics, said that the Lao Defence Ministry’s land presentation to the GAOV to build its headquarters reflects the deep and close relationship between Laos and Vietnam .
Vietnam and Laos are fraternal countries which had fought in the same trench against the same enemy and the Vietnamese community in Laos have made great contributions to Laos ’ national liberation in the past as well as its current national construction, he stressed.
The Minister of the Vietnamese Embassy in Laos , Luong Quoc Huy, thanked the Lao Defence Ministry for its valuable support for the GAOV as well as the Vietnamese community in Laos .
He promised to encourage Vietnamese in Laos to boost solidarity with the Lao people in order to further develop the Lao country.
During the ceremony, a representative of the Long Thanh Golf Investment and Business Joint Stock Company presented 100,000 USD to the Lao Army’s Hospital 103 to buy medical equipment and medicines serving its check-ups and treatment./.
