Vientiane (VNA) – Laos’ readiness for integrating into the world economy was analysed at a scientific conference in Vientiane on November 28.
The conference was attended by more than 300 delegates, including Lao ministers, deputy ministers, representatives of international organisations, embassies, diplomatic agencies and many Lao enterprises.
The conference analysed Laos’ readiness in regional and global economic integration at the bilateral, regional, subregional and multinational level; Laos’ advantages; and challenges Laos will face in the ASEAN Community.
Lao Deputy Prime Minister Thongloun Sisoulith affirmed the importance of the conference, providing information to help the Lao government promote and adjust integration policies. It would also help Lao enterprises learn about the country’s potential, and its opportunities and challenges, in order to prepare for economic integration.
They discussed measures and resolutions to help the more recent members of ASEAN – Lao, Cambodia, Myanmar and Vietnam – make use of their advantages to quickly narrow the gap with the six other ASEAN countries.-VNA
