He made the affirmation at a ceremony held in Hanoi on September 20 tocelebrate 25 years since Le Courrier du Vietnam newspaper was transferred to theVNA from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Hestressed that contributions made by the staff, journalists and technicians ofthe newspaper through periods have helped it become a bridge between Vietnamand the French-speaking community, thus affirming Vietnam’s position and role inthe community of French-speaking countries.
Le Courrier du Vietnam has well performed its tasks in disseminating informationand foreign policies of the Vietnamese Party and State and reflecting thecountry’s socio-economic development in a quick and objective manner, deservingone of the important foreign information channels of the nation, he said.
Editor-in-chief of Le Courrier du Vietnam Nguyen Thu Ha shared that thenewspaper was founded in the early 1950s. In 1993, in preparation for the 7th Francophone Summit, which took place in 1997, the VNA took over theweekly from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
From a few A3-size pages, Le Courrier du Vietnam has been developed into a64-page magazine with newer and more attractive designs and contents,contributing to promoting Vietnam’s images to French-speaking countries, thusattracting tourists from the community to Vietnam, Ha said.
Le Courrier du Vietnam will exert efforts to make more improvements in order tomeet the information need of readers, towards expanding the influence and spreadof its information among the French-speaking community, she added.
Atpresent, the newspaper is known for three publications: the weekly, the onlinenewspaper and the television programme "Francophone space."
Since2016, Le Courrier du Vietnam has worked with the International Organisationof Francophonie (OIF) and the Group of FrancophoneEmbassies, Delegations and Institutions in Vietnam(GADIF) to successfully organise an annual contest for young reporters.
