Leader greets Myanmar’s central bank governor

The PM made the comment during a reception for Governor of the Central Bank of Myanmar Kyaw Kyaw Maung on August 6 during his working visit to Vietnam.

He highlighted the long-standing friendship between Vietnam and Myanmar as well as the strong developments in bilateral collaboration, especially in economics, trade and investment.

Vietnam ranks eighth among countries and territories investing in Myanmar and trade has increased annually, the leader said, stressing the huge potential for economic, trade and investment ties.

The Vietnamese Government creates all possible conditions for businesses to operate in Myanmar, he affirmed.

The Myanmar central bank governor said Myanmar has paid close attention to promoting multi-faceted cooperation with Vietnam, particularly in economics, trade and investment, as well as to the affiliation between the two central banks for mutual interests.

Myanmar will coordinate closely with the Vietnamese side to address emerging economic issues, he said.

The Governor pledged to consider granting licences to the Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam to open its branch in Myanmar.-VNA
