Leaders pledge even stronger bond with Laos

Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong on Mar 16 said that Vietnam will continue raising relations with Laos to a higher level in the interest of the two countries and for regional peace, stability and development.

He made this statement while receiving aPolitburo member of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party CentralCommittee, Deputy Prime Minister cum Minister of Foreign AffairsThongloun Sisoulith who is on a visit to Vietnam to co-chair the sixthfriendship meeting between the two countries' ministries of foreignaffairs.

Trong highly valued the cooperation between thetwo ministries in recent years, expressing his belief that they willcontinue to coordinate closely to boost information and experienceexchanges and implement cooperation agreements reached by their partiesand governments.

He suggested that the two ministrieswork together to organise events and festivals to celebrate the Year ofVietnam-Laos Solidarity and Friendship 2012.

ThonglounSisoulith conveyed the warmest regards from Lao Party General Secretarycum State President Choummaly Sayasone to Party General Secretary Trong.

He emphasised that the Lao Party, State and people willmake efforts to develop long-lasting relations between the twocountries.

On the same day, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung also received Thongloun Sisoulith.

Dung expressed his hope that Laos and Vietnam's foreign affairsministries would strengthen their cooperative activities to contributeto developing not only their bilateral relations but also theirrelations with other ASEAN countries.

He also affirmed that Vietnam is willing to assist Laos in hosting international meetings.

Thongloun Sisoulith said that he hopes Vietnam will continue sharingexperiences in socio-economic development and suggested that they shouldboost exchange visits between officials at all levels and pay attentionto educating their younger generations about the two countries'traditional relations and solidarity.-VNA

Vietnam, China sign 32 cooperation documents

The documents include a cooperation plan between the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) and the Communist Party of China (CPC) for the 2026–2030 period; a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on cooperation between the Organisation Commission of the CPV Central Committee and its Chinese counterpart; and a cooperation agreement between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam and the International Liaison Department of the CPC Central Committee.
