HCM City (VNA) – Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party’s Committee Dinh La Thang has said an e-government system will enable the city to move forward with administrative reforms.

He was speaking on April 29 at a reception for Celine Zapolsky, Chief Business Development Officer at Linagora - a French-based Open Source Software, who came to seek opportunities in the city’s plan to build an e-Government system.

The municipal leader affirmed that the city always welcomes software enterprises to help it realise the setting up of an efficient e-government at rational costs.

Thang said that Linagora needs to work more with the municipal People’s Committee on the e-Government project.

A commitment to the building of the e-Government has been recently inked between Ho Chi Minh City and the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry, he added.

For her part, Celine Zapolsky said that Linagora set up strategic relations with Vietnamese Hanel DTT Technology Joint Stock Company to carry out IT projects in some state-owned agencies.

Experts from Linagora are willing to share experience in IT application in providing public services with Vietnam, she underscored, stating that France is the world’s fourth leading country in the field.

Ho Chi Minh City can seek supports from the French development fund to build the e-government system, she suggested.

Linagora company, established in 2000, is a leader in the French free and open source market. Its solutions are now used by half of the French ministries, public administrations together with some Universities and local authorities.

The company’s e-Government solutions have been implemented in numerous countries and groups worldwide. In Vietnam, Linagora has cooperated with Hanoi University of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Transport and the Da Nang city People’s Committee.-VNA
