At aprogramme in the northern province of Thai Nguyen on January 19, Chairman ofthe provincial People’s Committee Vu Hong Bac extended New Year wishes toforeign businesses, workers, non-governmental organisations, students andVietnamese expatriates living and working in the province.
He informedthem that the provincial economy grew 15.2 percent last year, with industrialproduction value surpassing 477 trillion VND (20.7 billion USD), up 26.7percent annually. Export value topped 19 billion USD while revenues to theState budget hit more than 9.6 trillion VND (417.3 million USD).
Theprovince licensed more than 20 foreign-invested projects worth nearly 133million USD, bringing the total number of foreign direct investment projects to116.

ViceSecretary of the provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the provincialPeople’s Committee Ho Quoc Dung updated them about local socio-economicdevelopment, saying that the province recorded a 7.53 percent increase in grossregional domestic product, 730.5 million USD worth of exports and 29,715 newjobs.
