Numerous localities are busy with practical moves in the lead up to War Invalids and Martyrs’ Day which will fall on July 27.
Since early this year, the Central Highlands province of Dak Nong has handed over 531 houses worth over 17.5 billion VND (833,000 USD), and repaired 125 houses at a total cost of 780 million USD (37,200 USD) sourced from the social fund.
All heroic Vietnamese mothers receive lifetime care while over 4,000 war veterans and their relatives are given health check-ups each year. They also have their own medical insurance cards.
The province has invested tens of billions of VND to upgrade and expand war martyrs’ cemeteries in Dak Mil, Cu Jut and Krong No districts, build monuments dedicated to fallen soldiers in Dak Song, Dak Glong, Tuy Duc and Dak Mil district, and houses of steles in border districts.
In the Central Highlands province of Dak Lak, nearly 5.4 billion VND (250,000 USD) was used to buy gifts for over 17,000 policy beneficiaries. Other gifts from the President also reached their hands.
Provincial leaders visited and presented gifts to war soldiers and members of the armed forces in three medical facilities in the locality.
The local units, agencies and organisations also launched the campaign “Remember the source when drinking water”, which appeals for public support for families of war heroes in need.
On the occasion, Army Corps 16 offered free health checks and distributed free medicine and gifts to 950 members of ethnic minorities and policy beneficiaries in Ia Lop and Ia R’ve communes, Ea Sup district.
In the central province of Quang Tri, a number of martyrs’ cemeteries have been restored and enlarged at a cost of over 50 billion VND (230,000 USD).
The provincial Department of Labour, War Invalids and Social Affairs has to date raised nearly 100 million VND to build houses and support the families of those who once rendered services to the nation. Gifts were presented to 116 families of fallen soldiers.
On July 24, the Quang Tri provincial chapter of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union offered incense at the National Martyrs’ Ceremony Route 9.
Other similar activities also got underway in the southern province of Vinh Long and the central highlands province of Lam Dong.-VNA
