After more than two years of construction, by mid-December 2025, the transport links directly connecting Long Thanh Airport (Routes T1 and T2) are largely complete. The nearly 8-km routes, designed for speeds of 80–100 km/h, are now lined with greenery. Contractors are mobilising manpower to finish remaining work, aiming to complete the entire route within December.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on December 14 called on teams to accelerate the construction of the Long Thanh International Airport in the southern province of Dong Nai to make it ready for the first flight on December 19 and commercial operations in the first half of 2026.
The Government proposed raising the revenue threshold exempt from tax for business households from 200 million VND (over 7,580 USD) to 500 million VND per year.
The first phase, from the start of Long Thanh's commercial operations until the end of the 2026 winter flight season, will see long-haul international routes relocated to the new airport in Dong Nai province.

The southern province of Dong Nai plans to start construction of 18-trillion VND (682.5 million USD) Cat Lai bridge that connects Long Thanh International Airport and Ho Chi Minh City next year, according to Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Ho Van Ha.
"If progress continues, we will not only meet but also exceed the targets of the 13th National Party Congress - completing 3,000 kilometres of expressways and 1,000 kilometres of coastal roads - which will be a great achievement to welcome the 14th National Party Congress," PM Chinh stated.
The project to expand the Ho Chi Minh City–Long Thanh section of the North-South expressway could see its timeline significantly shortened if it is classified as an urgent construction project and allowed to proceed under special mechanisms.
