The first sailing will be with the Mathilde Maersk on May 12.
The service will call at the SP-PSA International Terminal in Vung Tau,a deepwater facility located 80km south of HCM City near the mouth ofthe Cai Mep – Thi Vai river.
It would have a Wednesday sailing at Vung Tau, providing an optimalMonday evening cargo closing for exporters, and a Sunday arrival intothe APM Terminals facility in Los Angeles, California, with a transittime of just 18 days, a company press release said.
Westbound port rotation for imports from the US West Coast will remain unchanged.
“Our US customers have requested this direct call and the time is rightto include a direct service from Vietnam in our network,” said BillWoodhour, North America Sales Manager for Maersk Line. “This call willcompliment our other Trans-Pacific products.”
Maersk Line’s P6 service offers products covering the Far East and USWest Coast. With a fleet of 14 vessels, ports of call eastbound willinclude Tanjung Pelepas, Malaysia; Vung Tau, Vietnam; Yantian, China;Hong Kong, China and Los Angeles, California.
The westbound rotation will be Los Angeles, California; Yokohama,Japan; Nagoya, Japan; Shanghai, China; Ningbo, China; Xiamen, China;Hong Kong, China; Yantian, China, and Tanjung Pelepas, Malaysia./.
