The northern port city of Haiphong has sent a senior delegation to Brandenburg State in Germany to promote trade and investment.
The visit resulted in the signing of a memorandum of understanding on vocational training on April 13, between the municipal Department of Labour, War Invalids and Social Affairs (DOLISA) and the Hamburg based KWB Company under the German Education Network for Employability Vietnam (GENEV).
The accord, signed by the Director of Haiphong’s DOLISA Vu Dinh Khang and KWB Executive Board Chief Hansjoerg Luettke, is aimed at developing high-quality human resources, especially high-skilled vocational training teachers for Vietnam ’s colleges.
Later in the day, the Haiphong delegation, led by Nguyen Van Thuan, member of the Communist Party of Vietnam’s Central Committee, municipal Party Committee Secretary and President of the municipal People’s Council, met with its State Secretary, Professor Dr Wolfgang Schroeder and many other senior officials and executives from economic, commercial and vocational training entities
The Vietnamese guests gave a presentation on the northern port city’s advantages and its socio-economic potential as well as projects in need of investment.
In reply, Mr Schroeder said there was a lot of interest in Haiphong , which is a dynamic growing city, from Brandenburg ’s local administration and business community.
Brandenburg is interested in boosting its cooperation with and investment in Vietnam , said the State Secretary after citing a large range of the State’s advantages that are essential for bilateral cooperation.
Also on April 13, the Haiphong delegation held a gathering at the Viethaus in Berlin with expatriates from Haiphong and businesspeople operating in Germany .
Thuan praised their unity and strong will to overcome difficulties abroad as well as their charitable and humanitarian activities for their homeland.
His view was shared by Ambassador Do Hoa Binh, who said that the Haiphong expatriates’ association has made a strong and efficient contribution to the growth of the Vietnamese community in Germany .
The ambassador informed the delegation and expatriates in Germany about the embassy’s activities to celebrate the 35 th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations and Vietnam Year in Germany-2010, especially the Vietnam Festival scheduled to take place in Alexanderplatz Square in Berlin in August./.
