Malaysia, China pledge to bolster bilateral ties

Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi pledged to bolster bilateral ties during a meeting in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on August 4. 


PM Najib said Malaysia supports the establishment of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) proposed by Chinese President Xi Jinping.

Malaysia is willing to work with China to speed up the construction of industrial parks and welcomes Chinese enterprises to invest in the country, particularly in the development of its manufacturing sector, he said

PM stressed that Malaysia hopes to maintain close cooperation with China in the search for missing Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 and address the aftermath of the tragedy.

As Chair of ASEAN in 2015, Malaysia is also willing to play a role in boosting China-ASEAN relations, he affirmed

In return, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, who is in Malaysia for the ASEAN foreign ministers' meeting, highlighted the two countries’ friendship and noted that China hopes to boost ties with Malaysia towards intensifying the comprehensive strategic partnership.

He stated that China would like to partner with Malaysia to develop industrial parks in China’s Qinzhou and Malaysia’s Khuantan and collaborate in other fields like infrastructure, telecommunications.

China is also focused on developing China-ASEAN relations and bringing bilateral relations to a new height, he added.-VNA
