Kuala Lumpur (VNA) – Malaysia will try to woo tourists from Cambodia, with the goal of attracting 80,000 visitors from this new market this year.
According to deputy head of the Malaysia Tourism Promotion Board Azizan Noordin, over the past years, Malaysia has organized various activities to promote its tourism in Cambodia through roadshows and fairs, especially during ASEAN-related events like the Youth Cultural Exchange Festival.
Currently, there are 44 direct flights between Malaysia and Cambodia a week, thus helping encourage Cambodian tourists to fly to Malaysia.
The Malaysia Inbound Tourism Association has organised a business networking session for the Cambodian market, during which delegates from 20 top Cambodian travel agents and 20 others from Malaysia met and discussed new business deals.
Last year, 75,000 Cambodian tourists visited Malaysia, up 1.6 percent from the previous year.-VNA
