Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak has stressed that his government would not take drastic action that would strain its ties with Indonesia.
The PM made the affirmation during his phone conversation with Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono on Sept. 10.
At a press conference later, PM Najib said Malaysia valued its friendship with Indonesia and would not do anything to sever it.
He said that during their 10-minute conversation, the two leaders agreed to review existing mechanisms to further strengthen bilateral ties in order to prevent incident that could jeopadise the relations.
The two sides agreed to solve all outstanding border issues.
PM Najib spoke highly of his talks with Indonesian President Susilo, describing it as a positive development and the two countries will work together to maintain bilateral relationship.
Earlier, during the talks between Malaysian Foreign Minister Anifah Aman and his Indonesian counterpart Marty Natalegawa on Sept. 6 in eastern Sabah state of Malaysia , the two sides agreed to take measures to avoid disputes on marine boundaries.
Accordingly, relevant agencies of both countries will have regular meetings to consolidate bilateral relations./.
