Kuala Lumpur (VNA) – Malaysia’s Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi is visiting Japan from May 29 to June 2 to boost relations between the two countries.

He is scheduled to meet with his Japanese counterpart Taro Aso and other senior officials to discuss cooperation in fields such as trade and investment, security, public safety and natural disaster prevention.

In 2015, two-way trade reached 127.4 billion RM (32.77 billion USD), making Japan Malaysia’s third largest export destination and the fourth largest trader.

Since 1980, Japan has been among the top countries directly investing in Malaysia.

From 2009 to 2015, Japan carried out 355 projects in Malaysia with a total investment capital of 33.06 billion RM (9.84 billion USD) and generated employment for nearly 40,000 locals.-VNA
